Immigration and Our Values: A Conversation with Ruth Messinger
​A very special evening honoring Women's History month featuring an intimate conversation with Ruth Messinger followed by live music. A leading voice on immigration rights, Messinger discusses the role of Jewish women activists past and present and what we can do to support immigrants today. 
​
Musical performances by Adam Feder, Hazzan of the Shul of New York and maestro of the Shul Band; and Rabbi Jill Hausman of the Actors' Temple.

​Meeting 23: December 4 at 6:30 pm: Healing the World 

We take up the theme of Tikkun Olam. In our increasingly polarized and troubled times, how can we best heal the world? 
Featuring a zoom talk by, Meredith Weiss, Vice President of HIAS, a group that helps refugees and asylum seekers. Followed by a live conversation with Alexandra Aron and Jessica Bauman, two theatre directors who have done extensive work on theatrical projects that engage refugee and asylum seeker populations. At Studios 353. ​

Meeting 22: October 10 at 6:30 pm: Days of Awe

The Circle gathers at the 14th St. Y for apples & honey, reflections on the Days of Awe, and sharing work relating to hope, return, and renewal. Featuring a reading of an excerpt of This is Real and You Are Completely Unprepared by Rabbi Alan Lew; blessings led by Jessica Feder-Birnbaum and Art Feinglass; a song by Susan Horowitz; and short dramatic works by Jenny Lyn Bader, Alice Eve Cohen, Dana Leslie Goldstein, Barbara Kahn, and Kate Katcher.

To mark the harvest festival,  "The Festival of Weeks" that looks back at the giving of the Torah,  we held a biblical discussion about what's so radical about the Book of Ruth anyway and how its lessons connect to us — plus blintzes.

Moderated by Jenny Lyn Bader, Jessica Feder-Birnbaum, and Cindy Cooper, with blintzes by Jessica Feder-Birnbaum and a special guest appearance by actor/storyteller/teacher Jerry Raik.

Meeting 19: May 6 at 7pm — Women, Theatre and the Holocaust

The Jewish Theatre Circle is partnering with Remember the Women Institute on this Yom HaShoah event at the Marlene Meyerson JCC at W. 76th and Amsterdam. Performed work will include pieces by Cindy Cooper, Arlene Hutton, Emily Mann, and Naval Semel. For reservations visit the JCC web site.
